The Gallery at Town Center presents Adele Eustis- Painting Carol Williams - Mixed Media
February 21 - March 31, 2012
The Gallery at Town Center features work this month with paintings by Adele Eustis and mixed media work by Carol Williams. Both of these artists explore history and story in their work but in very different ways. The show runs Feb 21-March 21. The Gallery is located on the inside lower level of the Lake Forest Park Town Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155. Hours are 12-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
More about the artists:
Adele Eustis:
"The driving subject matter of my work is the power of color and pigment. The lore of color is memory-based; a red wagon, a yellow bus. The lure of color is visceral and subconscious. Blue is cold yet full of longing and desire. Orange is hot, ancient and wise. Paint is seductive and chaotic. The story opens as I apply the paint. In the end I've created a commodity, a painting. Yet to me it's a textured story, told in a language that is studied, academic and personal." www.adele55.com
Carol Williams:
As a Northwest artist Carol's focus has been the incorporation of cultural awareness and competency through the symbolic images found in all cultures, continents and belief systems all while utilizing images from the Northwest. Carol's work focuses on deciphering cultural mythologies, symbols, methodologies and the female deity to create new ideas, questions and concepts regarding convergent and divergent thinking, seeing and being. http://1-carol-williams.artistwebsites.com/

The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council and the City of Shoreline present a new exhibit featuring the photography of Lauren Greathouse and Betty Udesen and a collection of diverse work in the second annual City of Shoreline Employees Art Show. Greathouse's work from the "Hallowed Halls: Abandoned Schools of Louisiana" series is an exploration of the remnants found in vacant educational institutions around that state. "With the use of color and black and white images, I deal with my own memories of grade school by recreating the vibrancy and color I remember with the poignancy of those things and places that remain. These objects and spaces speak of an interaction with society and emit a history of the complex relationship between people, and the places and things that were once a part of their lives." Lauren's work can be seen at www.lqgreatphoto.com.
Udesen's work from the Teatime Series" features the wild birds in her Seattle front yard. "I began making photographs using the same equipment I'd use for baseball games. And, as with baseball, the wait for that special moment is sometimes very long. I tuck seeds into decorative cups and pitchers. Then, I wait.
The birds that appear in The Teatime Series are considered "common." I find that remarkable. Marvels of design and engineering, these backyard birds gave me an appreciation for a world I'd long taken for granted-the world right outside my windows." More information about Betty and her work can be found at www.udesen.com.
The Shoreline Employee Art Show includes paintings, photographs, wood carvings and fiber arts by staff in the City Clerks, Finance, Parks, Planning and Public Works Departments. This is a unique opportunity to see the creative side of some of the engineers, techies, planners and managers who serve the city well in their day jobs.
The Gallery at City Hall may be viewed any time during regular hours, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5 pm except holidays. The Shoreline City Hall is located at 17500 Midvale Ave. N, Shoreline, WA 98133. For more information please contact the Arts Council at (206) 417- 4645 or
